Should I double my split pea soup recipe if the ham bone is especially large?

I bought a ham and cut it up the other day, leaving a lot of meat on the bone for soup. I think it's quite a bit more than is normally called for in this kind of recipe. Can I simply double the quantity of other ingredients and expect it to work? I'll be using a slow cooker.Should I double my split pea soup recipe if the ham bone is especially large?
I am a former chef and would break it down to, and I have made split pea soup in a crockpot and it is hard to double or triple things as the peas expand and need space to cook, so for a 5-6 qt pot just go with your regular recipe, if you cannot split or cut it in half, then use it all, you will just have more meat in the soup or cook it, then clean it off and freeze the leftovers.Should I double my split pea soup recipe if the ham bone is especially large?
Absolutely double it if you have enough ham (I usually add anywhere from 1 cup to 1-1/2 cups diced to my large stock-pot). It freezes beautifully, and you would then have an extra meal. Always remember that you can also freeze smaller portions to reheat for a yummy lunch ;) Love split pea soup!
I love pea soup.

I would double the recipe if the ham bone looks unusually large, play it by eye, when i make it i'm usually using a 30cm ham bone which makes like 6L.
You have a ham bone? Smoked? Take a saw one half freeze and the other use.
Why not, you can always freeze what's left.
